Instagram 'Stories' feature has now gone a step further. Instagram users can now search for stories using location or hashtag, because the photo-sharing app has started placing its stories on the Explore tab. The updated version of Instagram contains the location pin, which helps users to find stories based on location. Instagram’s Story Search can open up new avenues on the photo-sharing app. Users can check out factors like weather condition, what is happening in a particular location, and what people are doing at a particular place. This feature is very similar to Snapchat's Story searching feature. Once a user updates the Instagram app, he will be able to see Location Stories in the Search bar. According to a report from Android Police, the video site is dropping a requirement that means users have to have more than 1,000 subscribers before they “Go Live” via a phone or tablet. The company previously dropped this subscriber-count requirement down to 1,000 from 10,000 in April. The change hasn’t yet been confirmed by YouTube or Google and doesn’t appear to be showing up for everyone, but will likely roll out over the coming days. It’s important to note also that this doesn’t meant just anyone can start live-streaming from a mobile device. Google announced today that a public YouTube Go beta is now available for users to try out in India. The new app is a redesigned version of the YouTube Go app announced last September, which is specifically focused on offering an improved experience in areas with poor connectivity. Facebook has launched a similar feature on its Messenger app just almost a week after Google Maps featured live location sharing. Messenger app users can now share current location in real-time to Facebook friends using ‘Live Location’ feature which is integrated into the Messenger app as an icon. Clicking on it will allow users to broadcast their location to friends for up to a maximum limit of 60 seconds. This being rolled out globally on both iOS and Android. Facebook says that it has been testing the feature in Mexico and claims to have optimized the feature to save battery life, according to this Reuters report. Note that Facebook already allows static location sharing, but with the new feature, a user can accurately track movements of another user on a map using Live Location.
